The Major Benefits from Energy Focused Modalities: Our response to stress affects the entire body and can impact all physiological systems. Metabolism decreases, heart rate, respiration and blood pressure increase, blood flow to the muscles in the limbs increase while blood flow to the brain and organs and muscles the torso decrease. Your central nervous system reacts to stress with narrowed perception, imprecise memory and blocked learning. Stress can lead to muscular response as well – constriction, spasm, and jaws clenching as your body readies itself to fight whatever is stressing it. Muscle contraction can affect the bone structure. Furthermore stress leads to depression of the immune system, hyperventilation, and increased risk for blood clotting, elevated blood pressure, blood sugar and lipids. When the body is subjected to continuous effects of stress, everyday performance at work, sexual activity, and relationships with family and friends may become impacted.
