Craniosacral Balancing
Cranoisacral Principle: Within everybody there is a physiological system that produces rhythmic impulses which can be palpated by trained hands. It has the characteristics of a semi-closed hydraulic system. There is a subtle wave-like pulsation that moves through the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord – the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). When the cranial wave moves smoothly through the body’s physical structure we feel a sense of well being. However, stress and tension, injury or trauma can result in holding patterns developed in the body’s intricate network of fascial membranes and bones that can impact the rhythmic flows of CSF and can lead to “restriction or impairment to normal physiologic motion within the body." Craniosacral Balancing: using gentle, non-invasive touch “generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system”(†) to restore balance by removing restrictions to CSF movement to help the body heal itself and release constrictions.
Treatment sessions usually last between 30 and 60 minutes |
